Internal Communications Executive - Contract

Executive Communications (Contract)

A high-growth B2B SaaS company is looking for a part-time executive communications partner to work alongside one of its senior go-to-market leaders. If you are the person who can take a leader's rough thinking and turn it into something people actually want to read, this one is for you.

Contract, ~20 hours/week

US-based required; East Coast strongly preferred (leadership sits in Eastern time)

About the role

You will be the leader's communications right hand, essentially a chief of staff for how they show up in writing. They bring the raw material: data, half-formed ideas, thought dumps, the point they are trying to make. You turn it into finished, high-visibility work that lands with the audience it is meant for.

The output is internal communications with an executive audience. Think all-hands and quarterly business review decks up through the CRO level, executive newsletters, executive-engagement materials, and support for the leader's external point of view. This is a polisher role at a senior level, and the bar is high. The work is visible across the organization, so it needs to be right.

What you'll do

  • Build executive decks. Turn raw inputs into clear, compelling all-hands and QBR presentations that carry a leader's voice up to the executive and CRO level.
  • Write in the leader's voice. Ghostwrite newsletters, narratives, and messages so they read as the leader, not as a communications team.
  • Translate strategy into story. Take business data and priorities and shape them into a clear point of view an audience can follow and rally behind.
  • Support executive engagement. Help the leader stay connected with their organization and, where needed, sharpen their external voice.

What you'll bring

Three things are non-negotiable:

  • Executive voice. You can write as and for a senior leader, and it sounds like them.
  • Executive and board-level presence. You are comfortable operating at the top of the house and communicating to that audience.
  • Go-to-market experience in B2B SaaS. This is the priority. You are fluent in the language of sales, marketing, and customer success, acronyms included.

Beyond those, we are looking for:

  • A blend of internal communications and go-to-market experience. A background in a specific software category is a plus, not a requirement.
  • 10 to 15+ years of experience. Ten is workable when it comes from strong companies; the profile often skews more senior, including people who moved into communications later in their careers.
  • A communication style that is plain-spoken and concise, with a big-picture, inspirational, people-first tone.
  • This is B2B SaaS specifically. A background rooted purely in consumer or social platforms is not the right fit here.

Writing samples

Please share two to three writing samples that show range across these three buckets:

  • Leader to field: a message written for a company-wide audience.
  • Leader to leader: something written for a peer executive audience.
  • Executive-level narrative: a longer-form piece that builds and carries a point of view.
