The Opportunity

We're working with a Series B startup building the platform for launching, monetizing, and discovering IRL communities. Founded by event organizers who were sick of forcing nightlife and culture events through tools never built for them, the platform now serves 8M+ users and has facilitated $350M+ in transactions.

This is the company's second product design hire, with full ownership across both sides of the platform: the organizer tools that turn event-throwing into a real business, and the consumer app where people discover and book IRL experiences.

The Company

A team of 30 on product (including engineers, PM's and research), built on close, hands-on relationships with the organizers running events on the platform rather than a faceless self-serve tool. Hybrid event/tech company DNA: deep ties to nightlife and culture, paired with a product-led growth motion they're now building out to scale.

The Mission

The dominant social platforms today optimize for time on screen, not real connection. This company exists to get people off their phones and into rooms together, around music, emerging talent, and communities that don't come around often. Design here is about creating real moments of joy, playfulness, and belonging, not just shipping features.

The Role

  • Own end-to-end design across organizer tools and the consumer app, from discovery through shipping
  • Define new interaction patterns and visual language for a category that doesn't have an established playbook yet
  • Move fluidly between deep product thinking (defining problems, mapping user journeys, driving decisions from research) and high-craft visual execution
  • Identify and ship low-hanging optimizations while also leading complete vision work on bigger bets like social discovery
  • Build for two distinct user groups (organizers and consumers) and help define where the product leans toward each

What They're Looking For

  • Strong portfolio evidence of working through complex, ambiguous problem spaces, not just polishing a narrow slice of a larger product
  • High visual craft using modern interaction patterns, not pulled from someone else's design system
  • Comfortable holding both 0-to-1 scrappiness and experience operating at scale (marketplace/e-commerce background is a plus)
  • Genuine creative range: able to break from existing systems and invent new patterns when needed
  • Strong communicator with a clear point of view and tone of voice in how they present work
  • Ready to work 5 days a week in NYC
